FAQs
What sort of things do you do in a session?
The activities is a session depend on the type of session and your level of fitness. The different types of sessions are fully explained in our website (more details here).
How long does a session go for?
All sessions run for 1 hour.
How soon after giving birth can I start Bay City Strolling?
When your doctor says its OK, that's when you are ready to make a commitment to fitness. If you are within 6 months of the birth of your child, you will need your doctors permission before you register as a BCS client. The time to get back to exercise varies depending for each person, largely depending on the type of delivery you had.
As a guide, most women are encouraged to start pelvic floor exercises soon after giving birth, and more vigorous exercise, like a Bay City Stroller session, is possible after about 6 weeks.
How many people are in the sessions?
Sessions are limited to 10 people.
What sort of stroller should I bring to the session?
Whatever stroller you like as long as the brakes work, the baby can be securely strapped in and the stroller provides protection from the wind, rain or sun.
What if my baby needs me during a session?
You will be able to tend to your baby while the other mums continue to work out. The trainer will not be able to watch your baby as they will be focussing on the mothers exercising, but they will be able to help if you need assistance. It is encouraged that if you are breastfeeding, you feed your child prior to the workout.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear some suitable training shoes, a supportive bra, bring some water and dress yourself and your baby for the weather. Remember sunscreen!
What happens if it rains?
In most cases a slight shower will not affect the session and we will push on! However if it looks like it will inpracticle or unsafe to run a session we may have to cancel. We will ensure to give you one hours notice if we cancel a session.
Do I need to book a session?
Bookings are essential for all our sessions. You can book online or by calling 1300 882 129.
Can my partner come to a session too?
Husbands and partners are welcome. Be aware though that the exercises will be primarily focussed on the mum's requirements. We do however run Bay City Stroller Dad's sessions on weekends in some locations. These sessions are more tailored to suit the Dads so this would be the best time for them to come.
