Exercise is only one part of the essential ingredients for a fit and healthly lifestyle. A very significant part is healthy eating.
The Bay City Strollers is aware that the needs of an expecting mum differ to those of a mum that has had their baby. We can assist you to make all the necessary changes to your diet, that can best enable you to have optimal energy whilst being involved in the Bay city Strollers program. We can also assist in the help of a nutritionist if you do so require one.
The Bay City Strollers does not advocate any form of dieting for weight loss. We feel strongly about the benefits of a balanced diet, and the consumption of wholesome, fresh and unprocessed food.
These are some basic tips for healthy eating:

Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables; these are high in vitamins and minerals but very low in fats.

Increase fibre-rich foods such as fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, beans and lentils

Eat fish, poultry and lean meat. Avoid frying food. Cut down on fatty meat products such as sausages, sausage rolls, pies etc.

Choose low fat dairy products, but keep up your dairy intake, especially if you are breastfeeding.

Drink plenty of water - you can become more dehydrated than you think. Breast feeding mothers, in particular need to keep up their fluid intake.

Try to cut back on stimulants such as coffee, tea and alcohol. try and limit yourself to one per day or drink herbal teas instead. (Green)

Try to use les salt; processed foods can be very high in salt content.
